Columbus, OH - Orlay Alonso will perform a recital at Indianola Presbyterian Church (1970 Waldeck Ave., Columbus, OH 43201) on Sunday, November 20, 2011, at 2:00 PM. (Free Admission) The performance will celebrate the bicentennial of F. Liszt's birth and will also include works by Bach, Beethoven and Albéniz. Mr. Alonso will perform on both of IPC’s musical treasures: Earl Wild’s Baldwin piano and Robert Noehren’s 3 manual, 45 rank pipe organ.

Mr. Alonso’s execution is both passionate and poetic. His exuberant approach to the keyboard is unparalleled, giving forth music that is both moving and explosive. He demonstrates a keen understanding of the composer’s intent while infusing his own unique enthusiasm for sharing these intimate messages with the audience.

This young Cuban-American pianist is gaining widespread recognition as a versatile performing artist throughout the United States. With his communicative gifts Mr. Alonso has captivated audiences at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall, Sprague Hall, Steinway Hall, Rockwell Hall, Tishman Hall and Rosch Recital Hall among others.

Mr. Alonso’s impressive array of teachers includes Lilian Kallir and Claude Frank, fellow Cuban- American Horacio Gutierrez and Juana Zayas.

Both his personable style in addressing the audience and his projective performances go beyond his career as a recitalist; his orchestral appearances as a soloist have been lauded for keeping “the listener's imagination stimulated at all times” – The New York Concert Review.

This young virtuoso recently arrived in Columbus and is currently the organist at Indianola Presbyterian Church and a private piano teacher.
