Bell Choir Director at Northwest United Methodist Church

Primary Objective:
The Director of the Handbell choir will plan, organize and maintain a music ministry that will facilitate the musical development and spiritual growth consistent with the overall mission of the church.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
– Maintain a high level of music performance from the Bell choir by active recruitment of talent from the congregation and community.
– Oversee maintenance and care of NWUMC bell equipment and bell music inventory
– Working with the other music staff, coordinate times to feature the bell choir in worship (including major holidays, Music Sunday, solos, duos and small ensembles during the summer)
– Select music and assign parts appropriate to the talent in the choir.
– Organize and Rehearse solos, duets or small groups during the summer months and the choir weekly from September – Mid-May

Qualifications:
– Directed a handbell choir (some conducting experience)
– Played in a bell choir
– Be knowledgeable and proficient in bell ringing techniques
– Good people skills….for planning music, working with other music staff, cultivating a small group with kindness and care
– Committed Christian dedicated to offering praise and glory to God through Music
