Title: Organist and Accompanist
Accountability: Director of Music Ministry
Position: Part-time 10-12 hours per week, salaried

Job Summary - Support the music ministries of New Hope Church by working collaboratively with the director of music ministry and church staff in achieving church goals. Relate to the congregation and community by exemplifying a Christ-like servant lifestyle.

Responsibilities:

Christian Nurture

  • Support and work with the Director of Music Ministry to offer edifying and relevant worship music for all facets of weekly and supplemental worship services.

  • Collaborate with the Director of Music Ministry to integrate appropriate music into the church’s worship services and music ministries.

  • Accompany and assist in leading portions of Sunday morning worship services through the presentation of a variety of styles and types of music. This may include leading instrumental music band or ensemble as assigned by Director of Music Ministry.

    • Collaborate with the Music Director with the selection and preparation of preludes, postludes, offertories, specials and other music, prior to the services.

    • Accompany and support additional worship services as directed, including Christmas, Lenten and Easter services.

    • Provide accompaniment and additional support to weekly rehearsals of choirs, ensembles, soloists and special musicians throughout the year as required by the Music Director.

    • Support growth of the music ministry of the church.

Administration

  • Attend meetings with the Director of Music Ministry and meetings with New Hope Staff regularly

  • Assist in the maintenance of the church instruments.

  • Provide the Music Director with at least 30 days’ advance notice for scheduled time off and assist with securing a substitute accompanist, if requested by the Music Director.

  • Attend church functions as needed.

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Personal acceptance that Jesus Christ is his/her Lord and Savior.

  • A demonstrated skill in his/her ability to perform on the piano and organ.

  • Strong knowledge of church music and traditions, and musical instruments.

  • Desire to share the Good News with others.

  • Ability to motivate and inspire others through programs and music

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Enthusiastic, self-directed, organized, flexible professional

New Hope Church's Music Ministry is supported by a IV/64 Walker digital organ, built by the renowned Walker Technical Company in 2024, along with a beautiful Yamaha C6 Conservatory grand piano. Together, these exceptional instruments provide a versatile and inspiring foundation for worship, choral accompaniment, and concert literature.

Our growing, multi-generational congregation embraces a blended worship style that includes traditional, hymns, gospel, and contemporary CCM.  This position will provide a key role in the traditional expression of our music ministry through organ/piano selections, while also requiring flexibility and openness for playing contemporary music with the band on a regular basis.   Enthusiasm for blended worship style is preferred.
